Project: GPS based AudioGuide for Openmoko (Wikipedia proximity alert)
Goal having a application that queries Wikipedia or other publicly accessible database containing information (see http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProjekt_Georeferenzierung/Wikipedia-World/en ) , taking into account your position, presenting information as soon as you get near a geo-rereference point. This data should be matched against a set of pre-defined tags defining topics of interest (culture, art etc). Every time the your GPS location matches a area that is near a point of interest,(matching the tags you set) the user should then recieve a notification on screen and a audio signal should indicate the POI. The data available for the POI should then be accessible via a link or alternatively be presented via text to speech to the user. This app should be compatible to running on OpenMokos Freerunner (GTA2).
