Project: Manual/Guide for SHR

This is a project to create a user manual for the SHR distribution that runs on the Freerunner communication device (and hopefully other devices soon)

The idea is to have a comprehensive manual for the SHR distribution for newcomers/ users / tinkerers. It is expected to cover installation guide, navigating the user interface, navigating and using the preloaded applications, setting up networking, using wi-fi, bluetooth, usb, gps, accelerometers etc, set up tricks and dbus commands, installing new applications and repositories, recommended repositories and applications at the minimum.

  1. Reason for this Project

As SHR becomes moves towards stable newcommers should have an easy to use reference to kick start their journey. I anticipate SHR to move to stable by the end of this year and the goal is to have a detailed manual available to go with it by that time.

Some of you may ask why not OM 2009? Well curently I feel that there are a larger number of SHR users out there. As more and more people start using OM2009 I will certainly think of starting a similar project for OM 2009 (and for that mattter OTMoko, former FYP and if required other distributions too) But one step at a time.

  2. Proposition

I'm SHR Settings, SHR Installer and opimd developer, I did also lot of revisions with tons of screenshots on my blog (http://dos.jogger.pl/). I think I could start to document SHR Settings now, i think i'll send something on wiki today.

The only thing I need is someone who'll correct spell and gramar mistakes in my english, cause it's not perfect :)

  3. SHR Team support

i had no time to add this comment for a while, but here is the rest of my thoughts:

    - i didn't know how to tackle this when i submitted an offer but later on i had an idea to take the bids from this project and use it for SHR developers - i guess it's harder to support distribution maintainers and day-to-day project business so the manual would work as a form of money generating project.

    anyways, manual n progress.

  5. SHE Team?

What is the "SHE team" ? Is that a typo, or some team I've never heard of?
