The logo does not need to look exactly like the gif file in the description. In particular, it would be nice to emphasize the large "L" in "DL" a bit more. Designers are free to make other small modifications to the logo.

  4. first logo version

    Hello diba,

thanks a lot for your first try to produce an SVG version of the logo. There are still some things, which do not look quite perfect as you said:
    * the black borders around the image
    * the "Learner" is in a rectangle box which contrasts to the otherwise dynamic style of the logo (rx and ry attributes of the rect-tag could be useful as e.g. in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SVG#Example)
    * the "L" in "DL" looks more like a small than a large "L" (this problem is also in the original gif file)
    * the font for "Learner" looks a bit strange, but I cannot say exactly why

I hope this helps you to create a second improved version of the logo. Thanks for the first try,

    Jens

PS: Link to the SVG version of the RDF logo: http://www.w3.org/RDF/icons/rdf_flyer.svg
PPS: Maybe you can post a larger jpg/png version of your second version (or one small and one large file).

    Hy Jens,

here my second try. As you can see I removed the border, let l look more then a big L and make thie white shining on the circles look better:

  7. suggestion

    hi everybody ...

and sorry for making things complicated.
i created a slightly modified version of the dl-learner logo with inkscape.
a picture from it can be found here:
    http://bildrian.de/n/b/9d09c9ff81efb4c9.png
    changelog:
rounded the white bird-shaped shadow on top of the globes.
changed the curves of the "L"
removed the white frame around the "learner"-box
added half-lucent blue shadow to logo

  10. Feedback

Thanks for all your efforts to create an SVG version of the logo. I am impressed. :-)

@diba: You incorporated my suggestions. However, you also changed some other things, which makes the logo look a bit static. The lines in D and L are less curved (in particular the L), which does not look very well compared to the original gif in my opinion.
@dahias: I understand the intention of the 2nd proposal, but it looks quite odd. The first one is better in my opinion, but there seem to be artefacts at all borders. Is this due to the PNG export?
@samael: This is quite close to the original gif file. Everything except the "L" problem ;-) looks fine.

Currently, I'd prefer the version by Samael. That said I thank you all for your input so far. The best thing to do is probably to create offers now such that the small project can be finished.

  11. hi jens
like you assumed the artefacts came from the png export. the origianal svg has a blue lucent drop-shadow. here is a version without shadow

i didnt change anything else - because i think its good that way. offer follows.
